Sydney Pet Grooming Academy - 28 Day Basic Training Course
The basic pet grooming course is designed to provide essential training for a career as a poodle/terrier groomer. We, at the Sydney Pet Grooming Centre, do not guarantee employment but believe this is a very informative kick start into the industry.
Your advantage is working in an actual grooming salon. In this manner, the student becomes involved in the running of the salon and the every day rotation of pets to be groomed and the important facet of customer relations. We also offer and Advanced Training Course for those who have successfully completed the Basic Course.
Course outlines:
- registration and introductions, tour of the salon
- tools of the trade - brushes, combs, clippers, blades, scissors, nail clippers, dryers and hydrobath
- control & handling - ears & nails, bathing, de-matting
- cleaning ears and clipping nails
- washing demonstration - use of hydrobath, measurement of shampoo & conditioner, flea rinse, importance of towel drying, dryers - safety features
- basic clip off on a matted poodle, terrier or large dog.
- Clipping face, feet and tail of a poodle
- basic clip on a cat
- the basics of completing a wash and groom on all breeds of dogs and cats
- how to handle a difficult or vicious dog
- completion of a basic groom on short hair and long hair breeds
- use of clippers and blades and scissors
- prepare your pet before bathing
- complete a basic clip off
- style the head and tail of a poodle, terrier or large dog
- The final touch - placing stylish bows on your dog and pet cologne
We always stress the importance of water for pets combined with a clean workshop
